Satellite Earth Station Usage

A satellite earth station is built to collect and disseminate remote sensing satellite data for various users and applications. This may include national weather centres such as the Bureau of Meteorology or research centres such as the CSIRO. Such centres collect weather and other information for presentation to customers and the public.

Satellite ground stations generally consist of the following main components: a receiving antenna, a feed horn, a waveguide, and a receiver. All are typically mounted on a base. Satellite ground stations are also protected by a “radome” (a sphere used to cover the antenna). Earth-based satellites help zoologists track the movements of large animals such as polar bears equipped with radio transmitters. Satellites can also help archaeologists find and study difficult-to-reach ancient sites.

Radar equipment Earth-based satellites can map land surfaces and ocean floors. Other equipment can detect different types of light and infrared radiation emitted or reflected by plants, soil, and water on Earth. These measurements reveal different rocks and plants. This information is transmitted to Earth where computers in astronomy convert it into images that can be used to create large, detailed images of vast areas of the Earth.

Satellites in polar orbits take pictures as they move over the Earth between the North and South Poles. Their instruments scan the Earth in narrow strips from east to west, which can be placed in a wide strip between the North and South Poles. On the next orbit, the Earth rotates a little on its axis, so the new strip is next to the old strip. Eventually, the entire Earth is covered, usually once a month, and a complete picture of the Earth is taken.

First, determine the time required to use the satellite ground station service and inform us so that we can prepare the plan for you. Before using the satellite ground station service, you must have prepared EC2 and S3 servers for your space and data processing. Using ENI, communication is established between the servers and the satellite antenna for the requested period of time.
