New Amazon location (UAE server)

New AWS Middle East location launched in the United Arab Emirates

We are very excited that the AWS Middle East (UAE) region is now officially available!

The AWS UAE region joins the AWS Middle East (Bahrain) region as Amazon's second region in the Middle East and 27th globally, giving customers greater choice and flexibility to leverage the most advanced cloud technologies.

The UAE is one of the most innovative countries in the world, and with the new AWS region, Amazon looks forward to helping further accelerate this innovation.

Amazon is currently building regions AWS In AustraliaIndonesiaSpainIndia and Switzerland It is. UAE server It is nearing completion and is scheduled to open in the first half of 2022. The new expansion area builds on Amazon's current investment, which currently includes two AWS Direct Connect locations and two Amazon.com CloudFront edge locations, all of which have been in place since 2018.

The Emirates server will enable AWS customers in the UAE to run workloads and store data that must remain within the country, in addition to being able to serve local customers with even lower latency. The new region will have three availability zones and will be the second AWS region in the Middle East, joining the existing AWS region in Bahrain.

Today, AWS operates 80 Availability Zones in 25 countries, with 15 more Availability Zones and five announced regions in the locations we previously listed.

As is always the case with an AWS Region, each Availability Zone will be a fully isolated part of the AWS infrastructure. AZs in this region are connected to each other via high-bandwidth, low-latency network connections to support applications that require simultaneous replication between AZs for availability or redundancy.

In addition to the upcoming AWS Region and Direct Connect and CloudFront edge locations, AWS in the UAE is building its team of account managers, partner managers, data center technicians, systems engineers, solution architects, professional services providers, and more.

Amazon plans to continue its ongoing investments in education, training, and startup empowerment initiatives to support the UAE’s plans for economic development and digital transformation. Amazon customers in the UAE are already using AWS to drive innovation! For example: Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Center (MBRSC) – Established in 2006, MBRSC is home to the UAE’s national space program.

Sarwa is an investment bank and personal finance platform that was born in 2017 on the AWS cloud. They grew by a factor of four in 2020 while processing hundreds of thousands of transactions.

Recent AWS innovations from Sarwa include the Sarwa App (planned to launch in the next 3 months) and the Sarwa Future Commerce Platform. Stay tuned. We will announce the opening of the Middle East (UAE) region in an upcoming blog post, so stay tuned!
